What is lye?

Lye is a chemical known as sodium hydroxide. A soap that is made without lye is not a soap at all, it is a detergent. Lye is what makes a true soap. The lye and water/milk have a reaction during the soap making process called "saponification". This reaction is what gives the soap its cleansing properties. The lye is transformed during the soap making process and no longer exists in the soaps after the curing process.

What makes your soap different?

My soaps are made through cold process soap making. Cold process soaps are known for retaining natural glycerin, a humectant that allows moisture to stay on the skin. The process avoids external heat which allows for the preservation of vitamins in the milk, and botanical properties of essential oils and herb infused oils. Basically, the soaps I make hold more value to your skin with vitamins and botanical properties versus soap you might buy somewhere else.

Where do you get your goat milk?

From goats of course! I hand milk my good buddy, Faith, and get fresh goat milk I then freeze to use in soaps.
